Anything water runs over in Phoenix turns white. Waterfalls, spillways, sheer descents and fountains all get the same treatment: scale off, surface left alone.

Features we clean

Wherever the water runs.

Features scale faster than the pool because the water sheets thin and evaporates fast. The buildup is heavier and the surfaces are rougher, so the media and pressure change for each one.

How it works

How features get cleaned

Four steps, feature off, pool full.

  1. Shut the feature off

    Shut the feature off

The pump for the feature is off so the surfaces dry and the scale shows where it is.

  2. Blast the buildup

    Blast the buildup

Media and pressure set for rock, stone or tile. The scale lifts; the surface stays.

  3. Detail the edges

    Detail the edges

Spillway lips, scupper edges and the tile under the flow get finished by hand.

  4. Run it with you

    Run it with you

The feature goes back on and you see the water on clean rock before we leave.

Good questions

Water feature cleaning questions, answered.

No. Bead blasting is done with the pool full. We work from the deck, and the media is captured as we go rather than ending up in the water.

No. The media is softer than the surface and the pressure is set for it. It lifts the calcium off; it does not etch the tile or the finish the way acid does.

Water sheets thin over the rock and evaporates quickly in the heat, leaving minerals behind with every pass. Features scale several times faster than the waterline for that reason.

One to three hours for most features, depending on size and how heavy the buildup is. Large rock waterfalls can take longer.

Phoenix water is hard, so it always returns. Most pools look good for a year or two. Keeping calcium hardness and pH in range slows it down, and we will tell you where yours sits.

It is priced by the length of the waterline or the size of the surface and how heavy the buildup is, quoted before we come out. Combining it with a leak check on the same visit saves a trip charge.
